Is it time to let go of the traditional superhero leadership model in real estate? If so, what comes next?
According to real estate mental wellness charity, the RiSE Initiative, reinventing the way we perform as leaders to integrate emotional intelligence and psychological safety into our team cultures is likely to create a whole different kind of real estate success in 2023.
RiSE president John Cunningham said: “We don’t have to be superheroes as leaders”.
“Learning new leadership strategies and skills that are more collaborative a and focus on mental wellness and thriving workplace environments helps your team to be more motivated, passionate and high-performing, while also offering you better support as a leader,” he said.
“In 2023, the RiSE Initiative will continue to encourage more workplaces to think about the emotional safety of their workforce and the issues that can challenge it.”
The 2023 RiSE Leadership Awakening conference has gathered a phenomenal speaker line up to reveal new leadership qualities required for success now.
Themes include bravery, consent, psychological safety, building and growing robust cultures, effective collaboration and recognising what to do when help is required for those struggling with mental wellness issues.
But John said it was the spontaneous conversations that sprang up around the material that were likely to be some of the most powerful conversations.
“Rise Leadership uncovered some extraordinary issues within the industry last year that were confronting and difficult for many of us to hear but they were extraordinarily important for us to discuss and we believe this year’s program will also inspire an honest look into the mirror to see what else we need to do to make real improvements.”
RiSE Leadership Awakening will be held in Sydney from March 26-28, thanks to the support of sponsors including Macquarie, Domain, MRI Software and CoreLogic.
“Don’t miss out because we have gathered an exceptional list of industry speakers and experts in achieving the best possible workplace environments to help us discover what’s next in real estate leadership,” John said.
Sessions include:
Megan Jaffe with Sarah Bell: Superheroes and Other Fiction. When we see someone performing at an extremely high level, we often believe they have superpowers and assume they are fine. In this heart-to-heart, Megan Jaffe (Ray White) and Sarah Bell (CoreLogic) explore the myths of superheroism – and how we need more helpful role models.
Chris Hanley OAM – The Job of the Boss
“It’s Dad’s job to drive when everyone else is tired.” This beautiful quote from the movie Unfinished Business could also be a neat summary of what we do each day in our organisations. RiSE founding father and First National Byron CEO, Chris Hanley – who has been recognised for his services to real estate – explores the job of the boss and how strong cultures can sustain us as leaders.
Michael Sheargold: Sustaining a High-Performance Culture.
