Real Care app wins second major award!

The Real Care App powered by the Rise Initiative was honoured to win the Social & Community Program of the Year at the REB Awards 2022 held in Sydney.

The glittering REB Awards 2022 ceremony was held in person at The Star in Sydney, where more than 30 winners received trophies across a number of individual, office, and network categories.

The awards program, which is now in its 10th year, celebrated excellence and identified the top businesses and professionals across the Australian real estate industry.

It is the benchmark for excellence around Australia, recognising those influencing the profession and propelling the industry forward.

The award was received on stage by Rise executive Kylie Davis and Rise director, Sarah Bell, who was also named Innovator of the Year in a separate award.

“The Real Care app has been designed to put mental wellness support into the hands of every agent and property manager across the country,” Kylie said. “It’s free to use, completely discreet and is helping transform the conversation in real estate to recognise the importance of mental wellness in top performance.

“We are deeply grateful for the support of Domain, our foundation partners in helping us get it up and running, and for the ongoing commitment and enthusiasm for the project from our board and our legendary advisory committee.”

John Foong, Domain Chief Revenue Officer said Domain was proud to sponsor ways for agents to find balance, longevity and happiness in life and work.

“We work in a demanding, customer obsessed industry and we recognise the challenges the industry faces and that Domain has a role to play in the communities that we operate in, particularly on such an important and key issue of mental wellness,” John said.

“That’s why we are proud to support the industry by partnering with the Rise Initiative and investing in their app, Real Care, which provides the tools necessary for agents to manage their own mental health and wellbeing and improve sustainability of their day to day work.”

The REB Awards are a highlight in the real estate awards calendar, recognising the outstanding contribution of professionals and businesses working within the industry, including agents, networks, innovators, and property managers.

It is the second award that the Real Care App has won – it also took home the Social & Community Program of the Year award just three months earlier at the Women in Real Estate Awards in December 2021.

“It is deeply gratifying to see the Real Care app being recognised through such prestigious awards because it helps build awareness which supports getting it into the hands of those who need it the most,” Sarah said. “Our goal is to save lives and help those suffering from stress or anxiety to regain their sense of wellbeing and if it helps just one agent or property manager and their families, the effort has been worth it.”

The Real Care app was created by the Rise Initiative to help combat the shocking mental health statistics in real estate. While one in four Australians suffer from a mental illness, the figures for real estate are nearly twice that. Real estate agents and property managers consistently rank higher than the general population for suffering from stress, anxiety and depression.

REB deputy editor Grace Ormsby congratulated all the winners and finalists at the awards and commended the sector for demonstrating resilience and determination through even the most trying times.

“Ever since its inception, the REB Awards has aimed to celebrate the exceedingly high standards set by business owners, agents, property managers, support staff and executives across the country,” Grace said.

“It’s at events like these that we can see old friends, make new ones, and highlight the work being done by professionals within their communities, within the sector, and even on a national and international level.”

The Rise Initiative thanks our partners Domain, Macquarie and MRI for their support in putting mental wellness and its connection to top performance on the agenda. It also congratulates all the winners and finalists of the REB Awards 2022.
